My husband and I are in the process of designing and building a home in northwest Colorado and we are thinking of installing bamboo flooring. While doing the research on bamboo flooring, I was told by a manufacturer that we would need to have 40-60% humidity in our new home to maintain the bamboo properly. I was also told we might need to have a humidifier in each room where we have the flooring. We plan on having radient heat under the floors. Since we live in a pretty dry climate, I would appreciate hearing from anyone who has bamboo flooring in their home in our 'neck of the woods' and how it is working for you. Thanks!

Karen ..We had Lowes install our bamboo and it was beautiful at first! Then the floor started to lift and poped every time you would walk on it, then it sucked up moisture from the concrete slab..We asked them to fix it and they didn't have the materials any more so they couldn't fit it so we got a free floor but had to remove some and the rest drilled holes to squirt glue into the floor so it didn't lift any longer..It wasn't worth all the effort!

Did you use solid or engineered hardwood flooring? We've installed radiant heat and want to go with a n engineered bamboo floor. I've heard that it will hold up just fine with the heat and they didn't say anything about humidity. It's cross-laminated like plywood so it is much stronger and more stable. You can look at Bamboo Hardwoods' website for some more information
