Can anyone give me information on an instance when Hardiplank siding has been approved for use in a historic district? I know district regulations will vary, but would like an example to present. We want to use Hardiplank on our 1940's bungalow to replace masonite siding used in a previous remodel (approved under less stringent regulations at the time). Thanks.
Hi Kay If you don't find an example in time for your meeting, I'd suggest getting a photo of your house in its original condition (or one similar that is in original condition in the neighborhood) and a sample of the Hardiplank to show that it will look authentic, or at least more authentic than masonite. But I hope someone can give you a real example. Good luck! Susan

Kay, I work in a historic district. We just completed a new home using all hardie siding. You may also want to contact James Hardie direct and ask what they have found. They worked very well with us on this house and on others helping us get through the city regs.
