My husband and I pored over the NSB books and are avid fans of Hometime’s “Building Character” series. We love a good project. After 18 years in suburbia, we decided to go for our dream. We happened upon a builder/architect who was well aware of the design principles involved with a NSB home and then we happened upon 2 rolling acres of Iowa land. Our architect was wonderful, although I nearly fainted when he gave us the square footage for our NSB home -- how could 3200 sf be small!? Between development covenants and the nature of our home/lot, that's what we got, however, we use every nook and cranny. To keep quality high and maintain our budget, our builder was gracious enough to let my very handy husband do the trim carpentry and painting. We're still pinching ourselves!

What a beautiful home! Do you have any photos of the interior? I would be interested in seeing the ways you used every bit of space. Who was the architect?
