hey all,

if anyone could help me identify the material used for the beams in this house i would really appreciate it. a contractor suggested some type of glulam.

Those are glulams (glued laminated timber beams), which you should be able to get through any lumber yard. You're actually looking at 2 different houses, but it is the same material in both.
