Four questions, really, about the house shown in Sarah's first book, the Kelly Davis design discussed in pp. 151 through 158.

The photo on p. 154 shows stair treads that are upholstered top and bottom in carpeting, and edged in hardwood. Are steel angles or a steel pan inside these treads? I cannot envision a way of accomplishing this without steel.

Is the small upstairs cantilevered deck supported by steel beams that are part of the floor framing for the second floor?

The house has its garage below a roof that is the floor of the screened porch and adjacent large deck. Would that structure be a pitched wooden deck, roofed in EPDM membrane, then capped with duckboards in redwood or ipe, or some sort?

Finally, I remember a time when SALA was MSM, and sold the plans for this house. Are plans still available from someone?
