Hey Guys-
After about 8 years of salivating over every picture and description in the NSBH books, my wife and I are finally taking the plunge to build our little house. Everything seems to be on sale right now, and we just sold our house and are currently living with my parents to make doing this affordable.

I'm blogging our every step if you care to laugh at our mistakes, or hopefully get some inspiration from our journey. We have a fairly limited budget for building a custom house (well under $300,000).

Thanks for looking and your comments are welcome!

Good luck with the house! You should have no problem getting in under $300K for 1700 sgft in Wilmington.

Just be aware there are more than a few fly by night builders in that area. I suggest you carefully check references and their credit experience.

I bought property in Wilmington in 2006. I also looked at a lot on Masters Ln ( off Greenville loop road?) It was on the circle at the end of the street. I don't recall the price, but we decided we either wanted to be on the water or near downtown Wilmington. We ended up buying a lot on East Lakeshore Dr (2100 block) across from Greenfield Lake Park. We will build there in about 8-10 years.

BTW If your lot doesn't work out and if you are interested in something closer in. There is a wooded 120x120 lot behind us on Wisteria DR that has been for sale off and on for the last couple of years. Price was $65k last fall.

Best of luck to you !

Rick
