This perhaps is a bit like "preaching to the choir" when I say that Architects add value to the not so big forum. That being said, many people do not have the resources to hire an architect for a full scope of services. The following link illustrates one example of how an architect added value on a less than full service scope of work.
Great example Ron. I would have to agree some Architects and value and Some Residential Designers and value. I can show you example of good and bad on both sides. As a Residential Designer myself I have been brought Architects plans and elevations and that look very similar to the draftsperson elevation you showed on web-log. My point being that there are good Architects and good Designers and there are bad Architects and bad Designers. Look at example of there work before you hire anyone talk to there past clients to see if they are happy with their designs. Look for good Architects and Designers at AIA, AIBD, CORA.
