Well, this isn't really about modular housing, but manufactured housing instead. That is, factory built in sections and installed on my foundation. I have found a company which offers custom floor plans, and am looking at a 1300 sqft model. It's your basic rectangle with a vaulted ceiling. Good windows and ext, doors but tacky inside doors and trim. Will add french door to a big deck and wood & linoleum floors. My challenge is to create a beautiful NSBH & I figure finishing materials can go a long way to that end. For one, I'm having a struggle in my minds eye with the horizontal where the ceiling cants away from the tops of the kitchen cabinets. Any experience or bright ideas out there.

I'm confused by what you are describing. Is the ceiling on an angle - not flat? If so how about putting soffits over the cabinets that extend in front of them they could have lights in them that would light your counter tops. With flat ceilings I usually like to have my cabinets right up to the ceiling - but I have a lot of kitchen stuff - which I don't use all the time.

Common design solutions are plant shelf storage above your cabinets, soffit them to the ceiling, or trim the cab tops with crown molding. I am sure uncommonsolutions are possible, you just have to articulate what you have in mind.
A quick comment- manufactured homes ( i.e. mobiles) are not modulars. I know on Orcas there's a mixture of both, but historically modular homes will rise in value whereas man'f homes do not. Something to keep in mind.
