I'm doing a remodel in a small house in Anchorage and really want to use the Not So Big concept. I don't find anyone in Anchorage on the Home Professionals Directory. I'm hoping someone knows of an individual or firm here who designs in the Not So Big manner but isn't yet identifying themselves that way or just hasn't put themselves on the list yet. Recommendations would be appreciated.

If there aren't any recommendations from other readers, you might consider working with someone who is not in your area but is on the list as doing business there. I see that there are a few architects and designers who practice in Alaska but who don't have an office there. Long distance projects are possible and can work out quite well with plenty of communication and site visits. Sarah has done many projects in states other than where her office is located.

If that is not an option, I would suggest that you go to the American Institute of Architects website and search for registered architects in your area via their architect finder. You can then interview those who come up to see if they might be a good fit for your project. It's possible that they have never heard of Sarah's books or the home professionals directory, and so wouldn't be on the list. You can introduce them to Sarah's work and give them a good idea of what you're looking for using the books as tools.

Make sure to check out the information on the home pro's directory page about selecting an architect, and download the interview questionnaire to help you with the process.

Thanks and good luck.

Thanks Marie. I think I'll go the local route and see what I can do. Appreciate your advice.
