We are desperately seeking information/guidance on wood stain colors/color combinations for interiors of Craftsman homes. We have not been able to find any specific stain color recommendations/palettes for doors, mouldings, floor and cabinets for a beautiful look that isn't too intense. My husband and I are building a new "Craftsman in the woods" style home and are going to use red oak for the flooring and door/window trim (those decisions are firm), and cherry cabinets in the kitchen (we can go with a different species here). There will be some rooms in the house with painted trim. We want the wood to be to the reds – we do not want to live in a sea of orange. I have gotten conflicting advice from our designer and trim decorators on stain selection approaches. I am looking for 1) general schemas used to coordinate and stain color selection for doors/windows, floor, cabinets, etc 2) actual names of stain product colors used for the trim achieve a beautiful Craftsman look. Thank you for considering these questions.
