What exterior house paint colors might go with a blue roof? My wife and I are doing gut and remodel of our 600sf home and as such need to pick a color for the siding and new window frames. The old siding looks nice but is in disrepair, so we are using salvaged ceder siding that needs fresh paint.

Most of the homes in our area are earth tone (in the mountains) so I'd like to shy away from the beach cottage (white) look!

Here is more info if you would like hear more about our project! Remodel blog

Hi neighbor,
re: blue tahoe roof.
Depends:
How close are you to the water?
If close, you can go with a grey wash, depending on the existing surface.
If not, 2 options, 1. resurface the roof (new shade, as in neutral brown). 2. Keeping same color: I suggest a darker color (brown..maybe a superdeck canyon or quiv.) (semi-tranparent if existing surface allows. Next, try a few ginger bread details, as in window boxes etc and...either a blue (painted) front door or spring for a new wood door. Bottom line, you have a cottage, make the best of it (i.e. hansel& Gretal)....sb6

Thanks for the thoughts, we ordered white windows and are still polling everyone on color.

Whew! That looks VERY blue! The Marin County Courthouse and Civic Center has that color roof -- and they made the building pink -- they call it Big Pink. Luckily, it's faded.
Anyway, wood goes with anything. I like the idea of wood with blue trim to go with the roof -- maybe the same hue but less intense.
I'd also look into toning down the color -- see if it's cost prohibitive or not. Or paint the house a dark blue that goes with it.
