Does anyone know the source for the rocking chair pictured on page 19 of The Not So Big House? I'd like to purchase one.

Thanks

Hi Marie,

I've tried to locate the chair using the provided information:

"The rocker is made by Ekornes (www.ekornes.com), which is a line available from stores that carry Scandinavian furniture. Sarah's is from Scandinavian Designs in Edina, MN."

1. I've examined the Ekornes pdf file of their current catalog. No rocking chairs are shown.

2. The closest Google match for the store is "Scandinavian Design, 7433 France Avenue South, Minneapolis, MN (952) 830-1038" This phone has been disconnected, and the listing is "unverified", which usually means "out of business".

Do you have any more recent information for locating this chair? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Larry,

Sorry about that. I didn't realize that information was out of date. You are right - I can't seem to find a current listing for Scandinavian Design on the web, and the Ekornes site only shows their Stressless recliners. I put in a call to Ekornes to check on whether the chair has been discontinued, but haven't heard back yet. If you'd like to try them yourself, the number is 732-302-0097. If you find out what happened before I do, please let me know and I'll update the information on the FAQs page.

You might also try any other Scandinavian furniture store that sells Ekornes chairs, and see if they can help you find it, or something similar.

Thanks.

Marie

Hi Marie,

I've had no luck finding the Ekornes rocking chair. The best match I've found is the Mobilos Rocking Chair by Hjellegjerde. Unfortunately this chair doesn't have the beautiful lines in profile of the old Ekornes rocking chair, but is equal in other respects: small scale, finest quality leather, wide choice of colors, excellent construction and comfort.

If you or a reader finds a better match for the original Ekornes chair, please post it, as I think many readers are looking for such a chair.
