I'm interested in the plate rail around the dining and kitchen area in Sarah's house featured in The Not So Big House. Can you tell me how deep the ledge is -- how far it comes out from the wall? Also, how many inches below the ceiling is it? Many thanks.

The plate rail is 4 inches out from the soffit, and the soffit is 14 inches down from the ceiling. Does that make sense?
